Pilar’s Outreach for Haiti
Relief Benefit Dinner for Stand With Haiti/Partners in Health
Friday, February 5, 2010, 6–9 p.m.
“Pilar’s Outreach for Haiti” is a group of individuals in the Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti community who are joining forces with Pilar’s Tamales to raise funds to help alleviate suffering for Haiti’s earthquake victims. We felt moved by the near unfathomable devastation of this event and feel compelled to take action to help our fellow bothers and sisters in Haiti.
To this end, we will be hosting a Benefit Dinner on Friday, February 5, 2010 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the First Methodist Church in Ypsilanti, with live music, a silent auction, and members of our community coming together to support those in need. Proceeds from this event will go to Stand With Haiti/Partners In Health, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which has been working on the ground with Haiti for over twenty years. In their own words, “Through service, training, advocacy, and research, and by establishing long-term relationships with sister organizations, PIH strives to achieve two overarching goals: to bring the benefits of modern medical science to those most in need of them and to serve as an antidote to despair.”
Our lofty goal is to raise $10,000 for Stand with Haiti/PIH. So again, please join us for an evening of delicious food, including Pilar’s Special Haitian Tamale, a silent auction with many great items and services donated by local businesses and individuals, live music by Joe Summers’ Gypsy Jazz Trio, and information about Partners in Health and their activities in Haiti.
Tickets are now available for sale at Pilar’s Tamale Shop, 2261 West Liberty or call us at 734-929-4161. Ticket Price is a suggested donation of $15.00 for Adults and $5.00 for children under 12
Questions? Want to volunteer to help? Have something to donate for the silent auction? Please contact Sylvia Nolasco Rivers: (734-929-4161 or info@pilarscafe.com) or Kelly Kempter (734-223-4156 or kelly@kaizenhealingarts.com).
